On July 6, 2017, the state of Illinois finally has a budget... and it is complete crap. Illinois will be permanently, PERMANENTLY, not temporarily, PERMANENTLY be taking from your pockets. Do you think the state of Illinois deserves any more of your money with their corrupt state government?
On Facebook, Gov. Rauner issued a statement:
"Today was another step in Illinois’ never-ending tragic trail of tax hikes. Speaker Madigan’s 32 percent permanent income tax increase will force another tax hike in the near future. His tax-and-spend plan is not balanced, does not cut enough spending or pay down enough debt, and does not help grow jobs or restore confidence in government. It proves how desperately we need real property tax relief and term limits. Now more than ever, the people of Illinois must fight for change that will help us create a brighter future."
Let me debunk this for you... the personal tax rate will go from 3.75% to 4.95%. The corporate tax rate will go from 5.2% to 7%. Illinois Policy has generated a calculator for people to see how much more they will be paying in taxes. I played around with it, plugged in some numbers, and here is the additional income tax, not including corporate tax:
Single, no children Single, 2 children
$35,000 - $394 $119
$50,000 - $578 $299
$75,000 - $874 $822
$100,000 - $1,174 $1,122
$150,000 - $1,774 $1,722
Married, no children Married, 2 children
$35,000 - $308 $93
$50,000 - $548 $272
$75,000 - $848 $796
$100,000 - $1,148 $1,095
$150,000 - $1,748 $1,695
This is what will be added to what you, the taxpayer, already pays.
Is that not insane to you? The day after Independence Day, the big, corrupt, stupid government of Illinois decides it will be taking more of your money. There is no reform. There are no changes to the pension crisis. There are no changes to the worker's comp crisis. There are no changes to the spending. Illinois will still be spending more than it receives. That is freakin' insane. Illinois is losing people by the thousands. Young people who want to start their careers will be doing it in states like Colorado, North Carolina, Texas, Indiana, etc. Small businesses will be closing or moving to business-friendly states like Texas. Illinois has just lost as a whole and will be the first state to file for bankruptcy. Illinois cannot stop people from leaving.
I blame a couple groups, I do. I blame those who keep voting for Democrats in this state. Do you not see that their policies are no good for those in the working class? Democrat policies are only good for the super, super rich because they're all Democrats and the super, super poor who are not ambitious and stay dependent on the government. The most wealthy and powerful are liberals and the poorest who depend on the government are liberals. It is the working class that is Republican because they see what all the Democrats know how to do: take, take, and take. Though, who I blame even more are the stupid Republicans of Illinois who voted to override Gov. Rauner's veto. I try not to name call because it is not the way to go, but really? Illinois Republicans are just closet Madigan Democrats. They do not work for the people, they work for themselves. I do not blame Rauner because he stuck to his word, he did everything he could to try and negotiate some type of reform because in simple economics you cannot raise taxes without cutting aid to somewhere else, IT BECOMES TOO EXPENSIVE.
This is the beginning of the end for Illinois. This budget will not bring out Illinois from the hole that it has dug itself into. We will be borrowing to pay off our debt while building on that debt. How much sense does that make to you? This budget is not a start to fixing Illinois.
Good ole Abe Lincoln and Ronnie Reagan would be disgusted at the Illinois Republicans who voted to override the veto. Big government freakin' sucks and I hope people wake up one day to realize these Illinois Dems and Republicans need to get booted the hell out of here.
