New York Teen: "I Told that B**** to Get an Abortion"
Father's Day is the celebration of honoring fathers, fatherhood, and the influence fathers make in society. It is a cheerful day where families have cookouts and spend time together. Unfortunately, that was not the case for 19-year-old father Shaquan Taylor of Brooklyn, New York. On Father's Day, Taylor beat his 16-month-old daughter Nylah Lewis into a coma. Police sources say Taylor messaged the mother around the time of the incident informing her "there was a problem and that she needed to pick up Nylah," and when Lewis arrived she saw her daughter sitting forward having a difficult time breathing; Taylor was able to catch up to Lewis when she left and knocked her out with one punch while holding their child. According to New York Daily News, Nylah suffered "bleeding on the brain, multiple skull fractures and bruising on her face, legs and other parts of her body." She also needed a blood transfusion while being treated at the hospital.
From the time that baby Nylah was born up until the day of the horrific event, Taylor gave a glimpse to his motive from previous Facebook postings. The old Facebook posts of Taylor reveal that he ordered the mother to have an abortion: Taylor wanted to kill his baby while in the womb.

Taylor has had previous encounters with the law. According to the Daily Mail, "Taylor was charged with sexual misconduct in 2015 because he was in a relationship with Lewis, who was only 14 at the time. A year later, he was arrested again for harassing her." On Monday, the day after Father's Day, the police charged the teen for beating Lewis; he was also charged with a felony assault and endangering a child under age 17. The teen is in jail on a $250,000 bail.
What happened to baby Nylah is disgusting and should have never happened. I will not refer to Taylor as her father because that is not what a father does to his flesh and blood. Taylor must be held accountable for his horrific act of violence and be in prison. I know some thoughts of my pro-choice readers have: If she would have gotten an abortion, the baby would never be in this situation. WRONG! For starters, abortion is never the answer and just because it is legal does not make it right. The right to life is a human right, for in the Declaration of Independence and one of the most well-known phrases, "We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness." Why should a baby human who cannot speak for him or herself be killed at the convenience of the parents? Life begins at the time of conception and engaging in sexual activity means you are ready for the responsibility of possibly bringing a child into this world. If you are not ready to take care of a child, you should not be having sex. If you decide to have sex, news flash, men: learn how to put a dang condom on and ladies: learn what birth control is. OH, BY THE WAY, EVEN WITH ALL THAT PROTECTION THERE IS STILL A RISK OF BECOMING PREGNANT! So there's that...
Secondly, I feel for the baby but I do not feel for the mother. If the mother knew Taylor's past with sexual misconduct and harassment (towards her), why would she allow him to see the baby? In all honesty, was Taylor ordering her to get an abortion not enough for her to realize he did not want that child? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Listen, ladies, having a child does not make the man you love stay, so do not try "trapping" him because it more than likely will not work. If it does, this is a perfect example of what dangers you can be putting your child in. I am not here to tell anyone what to do because I can really care less what people do with their life, but it is COMMON SENSE if you become pregnant, knowing your partner is violent, and knowing your significant other does not what that child and orders you to get an abortion: LEAVE HIM, GET A JOB, AND BE A SINGLE MOTHER. You will give your child a better life to do it that way, than allowing a low-life do nothing BOY, who cannot even see the beauty in bringing in an innocent life into the world, to see their child.
My prayers are with baby Nylah and her doctors. May God be with them and bless their healing hands.
