Identity Politics: The Force Behind Charlottesville
Identity politics: the Democrats way to get minorities to vote for them, but will it always work? No. At the beginning of the election, no one actually thought Trump would win. I know I didn't. But what drove his victory? Identity politics created by the left. You see, Trump spoke to the white middle class because he saw they were getting left behind by the left, knowing they were getting tired of being the blame for everything. Let us not confuse this, though, that does not mean every single white middle working class person is a Nazi or White Supremacist. The left's narrative is always making minorities think they are victims of the actions caused by whites, especially white males. And the nastiness of what happened in Charlottesville has been escalating for years. So it is no surprise it happened even though every part of this was nasty and disgusting.
First thing's first, what is the alt-right? The alt-right is NOT conservative. It is its own movement. So stop calling conservatives racists, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, etc. Oh, and by the way, stop calling every white person you see a racist, Nazi, or white supremacist, a few does not define the majority. It is a group who opposes the Constitution, who opposes the Declaration of Independence, who opposes Christianity, etc. The alt-right wants to burn American politics to the ground. News flash: YOU CANNOT BE A PROUD AMERICAN AND BE A NAZI AT THE SAME TIME. WE FOUGHT A WHOLE WAR ABOUT THIS AND THE WHOLE WORLD WAS INVOLVED. Donald Trump is not part of the alt-right.
What exactly happened in Charlottesville?
The night before the chaos on Saturday, there was a gathering of probably 1,000 people carrying tiki torches. In which these guys are just losers. The violence came from both sides: alt-right and Antifa. The violence that came from the alt-right does not justify the violence that came from Antifa, and vice versa. The car that rammed into the group of people was White Supremacy terrorism and to not acknowledge that there are White Supremacists is not being in reality, but again there is such a small group of them than what the media makes there out to be.
What grows the alt-right?
Identity Politics used by the left and the left's support for groups like Antifa grow the alt-right. According to Sheryl Gay Stolberg's tweet, "2. The hard left seemed as hate-filled as alt-right. I saw club-wielding "antifa" beating white nationalists being led out of the park." Please, let us not forget that Antifa was violent and hate-filled while assaulting people asserting their free speech rights in Berkeley, and have had street fights with alt-righters in Sacramento. Another thing that grows the alt-right, like mentioned above, is the media misusing the term alt-right. AGAIN, this does NOT justify any violence between the two groups. White Supremacy does exist and they will continue to grow if good, upstanding CONSERVATIVES do not condemn them.
Identity politics is evil and I will always condemn it. Whether it is coming from the left or the right, this is the result in which using identity politics leads to. So was I surprised that this happened? No, because this was slowly escalating.
And guess what?
It. Just. Exploded.
